World pulses day was celebrated on 10th Feb,2022 by ICAR- Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hirehalli, Tumakuru-2 in collaboration with Swavalambi Farmers Producers Organization at Bukkapattana Hobli in Sira taluk in the district. During the occasion, Capacity development programme was arranged to give the technical knowledge on different pulses crops which are potential to grow in Tumakuru District. Ms. Kamalamma, Chairman, Gram panchayath, Bukkapattana participated as a guest and highlighted the importance of pulses for economic and social stability and instructed participants in the programme to adopt innovative technologies for increasing the pulse productivity. Dr.N.Loganandhan, Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hirehalli spoke on the occasion, emphasised on the importance of celebration of Pulse day and assured KVK Support on the new technologies demonstration on different pulses. Dr.Somashekhar, SMS(Plant Breeding), served as a resource person and gave a lecture on the various pulse crops and their production constraints. The programme was co ordinated by Mr.Thipperudrayya, CEO, Swavalambi Farmers Producers Organization and Mr.Jagadish K N, SMS(Agricultural Extension). In this event, totally 45 Farmers and Farm women were participated.
