Inauguration of Seed Processing Unit
Dr. A. K. Singh DDG (Agril.Extension and Horticultural Sciences) Inaugurated RKVY supported Seed Processing Unit at ICAR KVK (IIHR),Hirehalli Tumakuru on Golden Jubilee Year 2016 -17 of ICAR – IIHR, Bengaluru.
On 7th Jan 2017, Dr.A.K.Singh, Honourable Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension and Additional Incharge Horticultural Sciences), ICAR, inaugurated a Seed Processing Unit at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hirehalli, Tumakuru, Karnataka. The unit was constructed under the support of Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana of Govt. of India. The other guests presented were Dr.T.Janakiram, Honourable ADG (Horti.Science), Dr.M.R.Dinesh, Director, ICAR-IIHR, Dr.Sreenath Dixit, Director, ATARI, Bengaluru, Dr.C.K.Narayayana, Chairman, PME Cell (IIHR), Dr.G.Karunakaran, Head-in-charge, CHES, Hirehalli. The programme started with an interaction meeting of respected DDG and ADG with farmers and scientists of KVK. Dr.Janakiram stressed upon the new varieties introduced by ICAR-IIHR to be used among the farming community. Respected DDG, in his speech, mentioned about various schemes initiated by ICAR for the welfare of farmers. He praised the role of KVKs in increasing the production of pulses last year. During the day Soil Health Cards were distributed to farmers of Tumakuru. Later he inaugurated the seed processing unit and visited various machineries brought under the scheme. He also interacted over various other field implements displayed at KVK for the benefit of farmers. Later, he visited research farm, CHES and examined the Papaya plot raised under protected condition. Dr.M.R.Dinesh and Dr.G.Karuanakakran explained him about various experiments carried out at the farm. Respected DDG planted a mango sapling (Arka Uday) as an initiation of mango demonstration plot. Later he visited the exhibition organised by CHES on different varieties of Jack fruit, Banana, Butter fruit and Dragon fruit. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Dr.G.Karunakaran and Dr.N.Loganandhan. All the staff of KVK and CHES took part in making this event a successful one.
