Report on “Graduation Day of Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers (DAESI)” programme conducted at ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hirehalli, Tumakuru on 21st May 2019

The Graduation Day of Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers (DAESI) was conducted at ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hirehalli, Tumakuru on 21st May 2019. Dr. Prakash Patel, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru, was the Chief Guest during the function who also distributed the Diploma certificates. The final Diploma certificates were issued from the National Institute for Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad. Dr. Nataraj M.S., Director Extension, UAS,Bengaluru, motivated DAESI Diploma Holders to continue to work with farmers and bring laurel to institute who taught them this course. Mr. Umesh, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Tumakuru district, Dr. G.R. Pennobaliswamy, State Nodal officer, DAESI-SAMETI, UAS, Bengaluru and Dr. Jitendra Singh Chauhan, Adviser for Minister of Agriculture Govt. of India were the Guests of Honour present during the function. Dr. Loganandhan N., Principal Scientist and Head, Congratulated DAESI II Batch on successful completion of one-year programme. He shared that responsibility of the Diploma holders will increase towards service of farmers. During the day, an Oath taking event was carried out by all the Diploma certificate holders, in the service of farmers.

The programme started with Raitha Geete, Dr. G.R. Pennobaliswamy, in his introductory remarks opined that, this type of programme bridges the gap between farmers and scientists by bringing more extension agents in to the Governments fold. These input dealers can now act as krishi information centres than merely functioning as agriculture input shops in the rural areas. Dr. Jitendra Chauhan, Advisor for Minister of Agriculture, Govt. of India congratulated all the candidates and mentioned that the responsibility of DAESI trained candidates has increased with this graduation and they should function as positive change agents in the system. Dr. Umesh congratulated all the candidates and briefed on the thrust areas of the Government and how the DAESI candidates can handhold some of the programmes of the Government to the farmers, because of their local reach.

Dr. Prakash Patel congratulated all the candidates on successfully completing the programme. In his Chief Guest address, he emphasized on the importance of technology transformation, which can increase the income level of farmers. He told that the DAESI candidates can take a step ahead and become entrepreneurs by taking licences of technology available with different research institutes, thus benefiting the farming community.

Following that, candidates were facilitated for their performance: Mr.C. Venkatesh (1st Rank), Smt. B. Pramila (2nd Rank) and Mr. Ekantha Reddy (3rd Rank). This One-year Diploma Course programme was facilitated by Mr. Umesh Chandra Banerjee. Earlier, the participants were welcomed by Dr. B. Hanumanthegowda and later the Vote of Thanks by K.N.Jagadish.

All the KVK staff members Ramesh PR., Prasanth JM, Radha R.Banakar participated in the programme along with Sri Nagaraj, ADA Koratagere, Smt Latha ATMA Cell, Tumakuru Dept. of Agriculture, Tumakuru.

The programme ended with national anthem.
