Field Day on “Improved IIHR Technologies” was held on 15th Feb 2019
ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hirehalli Tumakuru, under ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru, organised a Field Day on “Improved IIHR Technologies” for the farmers of different villages in Pavagada taluk, Tumakuru district, under Tribal Sub Plan Project, on 15th Feb 2019.
The programme was organised at Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, Venkattapura in the presence of Sri Mahavakyananda Swamiji and Sri Soukyananda Swamiji. More than three hundred farmers participated in the Field Day. Inaugurating the programme, Dr. Manjunath Rao, Head, Floriculture Division, explained about various technologies of IIHR, by which small and marginal farmers could get benefitted. Dr. Venkattakumar R., Head, Division of Extension emphasized on the need of forming an FPO in that region to utilize the technological support from IIHR and KVK.
Dr. Jahir Pasha, Associate Professor, RRS, Pavagada, explained the new opportunities in suitable crops of that area. Mr Sudhagar, SADH, Pavagada, appreciated the efforts of IIHR to choose that region, being most rain starving among all, for demonstrating the dry land horticulture technologies.
Dr. Loganandhan N. Head, KVK, shared importance of the various IIHR technologies that were demonstrated in the Ashram plot for the farmers to witness and implement in their fields. Later in the day, farmers gathered at the field demonstration plots, whereas explanation of various technologies was carried out by Mr Prashanth, SMS (Horti).
The programme was covered by Door darshan and local TV channels. The prgramme was compered by Dr BH Gouda and ended with Vote of thanks by Mr KN Jagadish.
