Awareness Programme on Gerkin Cultivation at Tumakuru on 3rd December 2020
An awareness programme on Gerkin Cultivation for the farmers of FPOs was organized by NABARAD, Tumakuru on 3rd December 2020 at DCC Bank premises. Dr.N.Loganandhan, Head, KVK Hirehalli participated as one of the resource persons. Smt. Keerthi Prabha, DDM, NABARD explained the farmers about the business opportunities in Gerkin Cultivation. Mr.B.S.Madhusudan, MD, Vishal Natural Food Products explained about growing Gerkin and market demand, support provided by his firm to the FPO farmers. Dr.Loganandhan briefed about the support to be extended by KVK in this Gerkin Cultivation, like application of organic manure, organic pesticides, etc. Farmers expressed their interest and three of them decided to take Gerkin cultivation in the coming season. 20 farmers took part in this programme which was ended by vote of thanks by DDM NABARD and Lunch.
