Awareness cum Training Programme on immunity boosting aspects Spirulina algae at KVK Hirehalli on 27th May 2020
ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hirehalli, Tumkuru, in collaboration with Spirulina Foundation, Tumakuru, has organized one day Awareness cum Training Programme on immunity boosting aspects Spirulina algae on 27-05-2020 at the KVK campus. This programme has been conceived to deal with the present Covid-19 challenges and to show the income generating avenues to the Women SHG members of the district. About 15 women from Sri Lakhsmi SHG of Kesaramadu Gram Panchayat, Tumakuru, participated in the programme. Mr RV Mahesh from Spirulina Foundation, Tumakuru, participated in the event as the resource person and shared his knowledge on all the aspects of Spirulina, covering nutritional values of the algae, methods of food production, business model, further training at CFTRI, Mysore, etc. The methods of producing the Spirulina algae and preparation of Chikki sweet by incorporating the algae were the subjects dealt with the trainees in detail. Some of the staff from NGOs like Navya Disha, Mahathma Gandhi Rural Foundation also took part in the programme along with few organic farmers and KVK staff.
