On Campus training programme on Advance Production Technologies in Horticulture by ICAR- KVK,Hirehalli, Tumakuru is witness by Ashok T N., Deputy Director of Agriculture from the State Department of Agriculture and Dr. Maruthi Gowda, Professor Natural Resources Institute – University of Greenwich, UK . A wide-ranging issue were discussed including the availability and benefits of growing improved crop varieties, using pheromone traps for pest control and beneficial organisms against diseases as well as nutrient formulations for better crop growth. Farmers asked several questions, obtained clarifications for many practical problems from the experts and had an enthusiastic debate about subsidies and free offers from the Government. The officers then visited farm for inspection and further discussions. All this was indeed made possible mainly because of Mrs Mangala who’s an accomplished farmer to say the least. She’s considered as a model farmer by the community
