Workshop on Scientific Coconut Cultivation Technologies by KVK Hirehalli on 30th April 2022
To impart scientific technologies and plant protection operations in coconut ICAR –KVK, Hirehalli organized District level workshop on “Scientific Coconut Cultivation Technologies” in connection with celebration of Annadata Devo Bhava/ Kisan Bhagidari Prathamikta Hamari” Abhiyan under 75 Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in Tovinakere, Koratagere taluk during 30.04.2022 in collaboration and sponsored by the Coconut Development Board, Bangalore and Negila Sidda FPO, Isha Foundation Tovinakere. On 30th April, 2022 the workshop was inaugurated by Dr. N. Loganandhan., Principal Scientist and Head, KVK, Hirehalli, Tumkur, addressed gathering on importance of the workshop for coconut growers in the district and water conservation practices needs attention. During the day, more than 100 farmers and farm women from Tumakuru, Tovinakere, Koratagere taluk and Madhugiri taluks were participated and Isha Foundation members Sri. Santosh, Smt. Nayana, FPO Director Sr. Ramesh and Bhanu Kumar and other members involved in inauguration programme.
Mr. Prasanth JM, SMS- Horticulture, delivered a talk on scientific coconut cultivation practices, recent varieties and Harvesting methods in detail. Dr. Hanumanthegowda, SMS Plant Protection delivered a talk on Pest and Disease and their Management practices and highlighted the schemes of Coconut Development Board for promoting the coconut farming.
Mr. Ramesh P.R. gave a lecture on Water and Soil conservation practices and Nutrient management in coconut orchards. Sri. Sagaranahalli Prabhu EX- Chairman, Tumakuru district chamber of commerce & industry has briefed about the Marketing and value addition in coconut. There was an interaction between participants and scientists at the end of training programme where in the doubts raised by the participants were cleared.
At the outset, Dr. Hanumanthegowda welcomed the gathering and the workshop was concluded with formal vote of thanks by Mr. Prasanth SMS Horticulture. The Workshop was co-ordinated by Dr. Loganandhan and Mr. Prasanth J M, ICAR-KVK Hirehalli., The highlights of this workshop were published in newspapers in regional language to give wide publicity.
