Kisan Diwas was celebrated at KVK Hirehalli on 23rd December, 2018, in collaboration with Department of Agriculture and Krishika samaj, Tumakuru. This was in remembrance of birth anniversary of late Sri Choudry Charan Singh ji. Sri Huchchayya, Member, ZP, Tumakuru inagurated the event. The Joint Director Agriculture, President Krishika Samaj, Head, KVK, Hirehalli, Hirehalli Gram Panchyat President took part in the event. About six farmers who showed successful results in their fields were felicitated in the event. About 100 farmers participated in the program.
Celebration of National Farmer’s Day (Kisan Diwas) 2018 at IIHR Bengaluru
ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research celebrated National Farmer’s day on 23-12-2018 in grand manner. Director Dr. M R Dinesh, in his presidential remarks urged the farmers to make use of the technologies and crop varieties developed at the institute. He emphasised on doubling the farmers income through adoption of modern technologies and growing market-oriented crops. Mrs. Shashikala Hanumaiah, Pachayath President from Hurulichikkanahalli was special guest. Three farmers were honoured for their contribution in frontline demonstration and spreading the IIHR technologies. Wherein Mr. Chandrababu one of the awardee farmers pronounced that institute is ours, meant for us and he urged the fellow farmers to make use of the institute technologies for their upliftment. Other two farmers Shri. Gopalaiah and Shri Mallikarjunaiah from Tumkuru district were also honoured on the occasion. Five officials from farm management unit were also honoured for their contribution to Swachhta Abhiyan at the institute. Nodal Officer Dr Nandeesha P, elaborated on importance and significance of National Farmers Day. There was a video presentation on IIHR technologies for the benefit farmers present in the function. Dr. Gajanana, presented vote of Thanks. All the staff of the institute, invited farmers from IIHR adopted MGMG villages and Farmers from Tumkur district attended the function.
